I guess my only purpose here is to let my presence be known...as arrogant as that sounds. It just seems fitting to say something as I start this. My history is short, in regards to martial arts. I studied jujitsu for two years starting when I was fourteen. I don't really think I could say that I studied it, as I was pretty unfocused when it came to training. I also trained as a boxer for about a year in high school. It seems that everything I have done in my life has been a strong start, I've shown some promise as a pupil, and then I give up and quit. This desire to get back into martial arts isn't so much about self defense, although that does play into it, as it is about self perfection, the pursuit of an ideal me. I also want to start something and at least get to the pinnacle. I understand that there will never be a time when training in martial arts that I will be able to stop and say, "well, that was good. I'm glad that I've mastered that, finished." I know that there will always be something else to learn, more things to know.
So my only point here is to say hello, to join and to learn.
The two styles that I'm looking at getting into right now are either Kung Fu, or Aikido. And I also understand the opposites that these two styles represent in practice and style, which is why I will start with one or the other. I also live in Sparks, a suburb of Reno, so if anyone is local that's on here, or if anyone has any tips for a person looking to get back, seriously, into the martial arts, they would all be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
