To the MMA guys.

Given the chance to train with one of the top TMA people, would you refuse the opportunity?

Let's say you could train with Yip Man, Mas Oyama, Park Jung Tae or Funakoshi.

Just a question.

Of course.

In the same way I don't think too many TMA would refuse an opportunity to train with top MMA guys.

Would I replace MMA with it, nope. But a few sessions for the experience and to see what they do and how they do it absolutely.

I wouldn't pass up the opportunity to train with the top guy of just about anything, martial arts related or not. Even if it is not something I have any interest in continuing, why pass up a interesting experience?

Well I wouldn't, but that wasn't the question.

That wasn't the question either.

Why indeed?
So any interesting non MMA opportunities in your area?

Though not considered MMA myself or TMA for that matter, i'm joining the convo'.

I would not pass up the opportunatey to train with some TMA Masters at all or for that matter some top MMA instructors. There are a couple of half decent MMA guys that i know of in the area & i did train once with one of them. TMA is slightly different - it would have to be someone i revered.

the definition of TMA is skewed for me to answer this. if TMA is limited to asian stuff, then i'd probably go for jigoro kano. otherwise, helio gracie.

Yeah, If I was a Mixed Martial Artist then I would train with a pure Traditional Martial Artist of any style of art, that would be cool.

I respect that they are legends in their fields.....but for MMA, I'd rather train with SILVA, MACHADO, SHAMROCK ect.

I wouldn't care except that it would be a novelty.

I don't feel training TMA wouldn't benifit my MMA training...that Samurial made a good point that the Kata, alot of the traditional techniques ect have already been discarded....

i'd never turn down an opportunity to learn from someone who knows more than me. like these two guys:

just the other week, the guys kept on disproving the "kimura in guard" thing that i did to a noob. lesson learned.

in the pics are: the big nasty and the grand tuhon, leo gaje, jr. and the big nasty and pappy dog. (nasty choked me after i gave that kimura).

Definitely Mas Oyama.

Does Kimura count?

I'll train with anyone, provided they are willing to work hard and keep a positive attitude. Maybe I'll learn something, a new approach or viewpoint is always welcome.
