I was requested by a few of the forum members to formally introduce myself to the JKD forum. My name is Morné Swanepoel, i Represent Burton Richardson here in South Africa and is certified as one of his most senior instructors/coaches. I am also a member of Rickson Gracies BJJ Association. My movement here in SA is called JKD - High Performance Street Fighting. Please check out the latest Inside Kung Fu Magazine (November) as my site www.jkdu.co.za was awarded .Dot com of the month. Also there is a featured 5 page article in the nov/Dec edition of Kung Fu magazine on my movement here in South Africa. I have travelled abroad more than 40 times in the past 10 years and have met many wonderful people worldwide where i conduct seminars in JKD High Performance Street Fighting.
I hope to help promote positive discussions on this forum.

Hi Morne

Another JKD guy here :D

I'm an instructor under Sifu Marc McFann. I've never had the pleasure of training with Burton but I've read his stuff & have his tapes - Excellent stuff. especially his developments since teaming up with the SBG guys.

Hey Way,
I assume you are at UAH or A&M. There are several JKD guys in the area and some had open schools at one time but not sure if so now. Two that I can recall off the top of my head are Cliff Sons, who at one time had a school in Madison. He is from the Larry hartsell group. Another is Harry Powell. He used to have an open school on the Pkwy but has since closed. I believe he comes out of the Richard Bustillo IMB Academy group. If you keep an eye out you can find more credible instructors in the area.
