Just like to say the day was a great success and £220.00 was raised for the "Martial Artists Against Cancer" Charity.

I would like to say a big thank you to Dave Green (Yoda) for coming all the way up here to teach the seminar. He made a good impression on myself and everyone else there with his professionalism and ability "wow" being the general term used followed by ouch and Arrrgh!! there was lots of that going on, pain being a big part of the day. This man knows how to dish out pain :D

Also a big thank you goes to Andy and Colin for setting the whole thing up.

Thanks go to Tintin for letting us invade his Aikido class before the seminar started.

And lastly thank you to all that showed up to make this a fun filled and painful day. :)

I agree with all of that (especially the "wow" and "ow" parts) except for thanking Colin, he doesn`t need any encouragement.

Hi guys

Just got home - very enjoyable day.

A very responsive & eager group - very eager to whack each other with sticks & lever various joints out of shape that is :D

Hopefully we can do it again sometime - had a great time!

Big thanks for all involved in the organisation of the day especially Andy for chaufeuring me about the place, and Graeme for being on the receiving end most of the day!

Shhh, don't lie to the girl Dave. Mel, all the guys were wearing Lycra! Didn't you know?

Seriously though, just want to add my personal thanks here.

I guess this would count as the first proper MAP event/Seminar.

Dave responded to the question of "Would you do it?" by constructing a Seminar that would introduce a mongrel bag of Martial Artists from mixed disciplines with little or no knowledge of the Fillipino systems, and turn them into deadly stick twirling Majorettes. Four hours flew by. Unexpectedly, attendees were presented with a beautiful Certificate signifying their participation in the event, as well as notes to stop the mountain of knowledge spilling out of their ears. Thanks Dave.

Colin turned the idea of a seminar into reality by organising the venue, and motivating people to attend, not to mention volunteering to be mounted by Dave in compromising positions, while Dave rubbed his stick into various sensitive parts of the body. Hey we have photo's to prove it. Thanks Colin.

Graeme was an unsung hero in my book, being Daves fall guy despite a nasty elbow injury. If you guys wanna follow up on any of the Doce Pares stuf we covered, get in touch with Graeme in Glasgow. Thanks Graeme.

Martin did a great job of warming us all up with the Aikido session, keeping the whole event nice and Multi-Martial. Thanks Martin, enjoyed that.

Jimmy Bore AKA CKD student, who showed up the local guys who failed to turn up at the last minute, by doing a 900 mile round trip just to attend the seminar. Respect to Jimmy, I hope you got home safe, and made your lecture in the morning. Any Map members who get down south, owe it to Jimmy to go to a Choi session for this effort alone. Thanks Jimmy

Lastly I want to thank all forum members who attended for doing so, and making this event such a success. It paves the way for future events, though how we can ever top Daves Eskrima Seminar I just don't know. Thanks Forum members.

Special thanks also to Martin for hitting himself in the back of the head repeatedly with his stick, and to HongKongFuey for cracking himself in the shin with one ;)

Lets do it again sometime soon.

Sunday was just brilliant!!!!!!!!!:) :) :)

Dave, Graeme, thanks for any excellent day, you guys can expect to seem me again in the future, and most of the others who attended as well. Big thanks again gents, you deserve it!

Thanks to Andy for being Daves driver for the weekend and for repeatedly motivating me everytime I thought the seminar wasn't going to happen, cheers mate!

Thanks must also go to Dave Bartlett (aka Silver_no2) for using his office resources and silver tongue (hmmmmm?) to aid the running of the seminar. Dave has also offered to write up an article for MAP.

And a big thank you to everyone who turned up and handed over their hard earned cash.

Cheers Guys

It's pretty much all been said already, but just to say it one more time:

A big thanks to Dave and Graeme - I had no idea what to expect, but loved every minute of it.

Grovelling apologies to Greyghost for the countless knocks I gave him. If it makes you feel any better mate, at least it gave everyone else a laugh, and it wasn't just you, I skelped my own head numerous times as well. 5 time to precise.

Thanks to Freeform & Silver for setting things up and making sure it all ran smoothly.

Serious respect to CKDstudent for the ludicrous distance he had to travel to get hurt!

Much back slapping to everyone who turned up, not just to donate their money, but also to make it a brilliant day. It was nice to be able to put faces to names, and its nice to see there are other like minded people out there (thats not an insult by the way! :D

Finally, thanks to everyone for coming to my Aikido class - in the west it often has a poor image due to certain clubs/styles, I just hope you all enjoyed it.

I have about 44 photos from the day, and will put the good ones online as soon as I can,

Hopefully see you all again soon,

Martin :)

Ditto what everyone else said. Thanks very much to eveyone who was involved in organising the event. I had a great time and only hit myself round the head with my stick once.

Ahh, woken up at last. I even made my lab session, though sleepwalking makes a fairly accurate description for my state at the time.

For those who are interested I got home around four, I swear that as soon as it gets dark they start to shuffle roads around.

Anyway, I had a great time, and don't regret coming up at all (though I think I'll fly next time). Hope to see you all again at the next event.

Oh, and Red Rooster is a miracle drink.

Glad you made it though :D

I'd like to add my thanks for an excellent and very well thought out seminar, which Yoda has obviously run many times before.

It reinforces my opinion that study of the martial arts is always a journey, as there is so much to learn, and it would be impossible for one person to learn it all.

The summary of what I learned was that messing with Yoda is bad juju, even with a stick or knife in your hand!
