Mario the Commie

I came across a thread here once upon a time arguing about Mario's politics. And gosh the guy has a point.
Now I wonder. Why did Mario become a commie? as it because he got lousy jobs as a referee in Tennis and Punch Out? Maybe he thought stealing watermelons form a big gorilla was not worth the benefits?
Did Luigi defect so he got a real lousy haunted mansion as a reward? Is Wario the warfreak Democrat (or Republican)?
