To pass what I see now as my potential - and see my students do the same.

To turn out better people, not just better fighters.

To have a positive impact on the lives of those around me.

To do all of the above for the kids on my soon to be launched kids program.

to face my fears & find my weaknesses,

to get rid of my aggression, without hurting the people I love,

to make friends that will & have stay'ed with me through the bad times & more important, that I would do the same for

to make me more than someone that sits on the couch & watches life pass me by

Hmmm...my goals?

I guess my goal is to get a BB in Shotokan and explore as many martial arts as possible.

I would like to think that I would end up being able to defend myself and others and learning tolerance and patience as well. But to be honest - some people on this forum help me with that :)

Do you enjoy Shotokan?
What belt are you now?

My goal is just to be the best I could be. I want to teach someday. I want to give back to people what martial arts gave me. Which is confidence, self esteem, respect, self control, and the ability to face my fears head on and knowing I was able to over come them.

Yeah I love Shotokan. I enjoy the traditional aspect of its training, all the discipline and marching up and down the hall etc. But I will admit I also enjoy my SD and Arnis as well as it means i don't hvae to do that all the time!

I am presently 6th Kyu.

To become more disciplined, get in shape and be more flexable. If I was younger I would say to get into some tournament fighting, but I am 19 and I just started karate (I did wrestling for 7 years before) and I think that I will be too old to do any tournaments by the time I know enough to perform well :(

KarateKid1975

What?!?!?!? I started at 25. I did tournies. I just did a tourny not too long ago (about two months ago) and got 3rd place. I'm 27. Don't let your age be a factor. You are never too old. Just get in there and do your best.

Alright thanks for the words of encouragment guys. I think I will wait for a while tho before I try my hand at any. My karate academy doesn't do "tournament karate" tho. I don't know the rules and I wouldn't even know how to get in a tournament lol. Where is a good place to find that stuff out? I also found that some wrestling moves come in hand, such as a cat's craddle, although I really don't know what move to apply after (its just a hold).

Cool. I'm a little south of Rochester (about half hour) in a little tiny town called Bristol. Most people never heard of it because it has Canandaigua's zip code LOL.

I see my martial arts goals as a never ending journey to become the best that I can and to try to surpass those before me. I will continue on my journey of knowledge, strength, and life until the day I can no longer stand and am sitting high atop a cloud in eternity.

To be alive!
In every sense of the word.
To live in the moment and feel it grabbing hold and shaking me like a dog with a well worn sock. To know that I am alive and that with my skills and knowledge I can do a little more to keep my friends and family alive.

My Goals are something I try to come to grips with every time I train.

To develop my skill and implementation in MA far beyond my current visions.

To impart my learnings/ understandings to those that choose to learn.

To become tolerant and understanding of others.

To apply my training in my everyday life.

Martial art goals? Skill, fitness, health, mental focus, friendship, mentorship, respect, tolerance. All of these things are heightened and honed when working with others on a common journey. Everyone's priority in training may be different but I think there are some common benefits if you are training with someone who has a sense of community responsibility and the idea he/she wants to train better people - not just better fighters.

My goal as a MA'ist is to continue my journey of learning
about life;
perserverence, potential, sacrifice and peace so that I may pass that on to my survivors of domestic violence students.
