Ok, I got accepted. It seem pretty easy to get in.
If you need a host, try this guy. The features available are great.
I got 70mg, you can get 120. With EVERYTHING. Cpanel too... handy for adding your own subdomains, email addys, FTP accounts.. lots of stuff.
Also includes loads of scripts you can install, eg shopping cart.

Hmm...I'm still trying to figure out the angle here...It sounds great (as in to good to be true). If there isn't an angle---WAA HOOO!

Doesn't seem to be... I know a number of sites hosted on it. Pretty much total spankage

There dosn't look to be a catch at all.
I've seen a number of these type of hosts around latly (3-4). There never seems to be a catch. So far I havent been made aware of any. They must make their money someplace else/some other way.
The guy running this one just made a message asking people to click on the google ads on the xplosive-hosting.com's front page. When gets a number of those he'll accept more requests. So that could be how he does it.
Perhaps he owns everything he's offerering? And just making a little bit of cash on the side with it?

Funny wording on the services page:
"We provide quality Free webhosting"
Where's the quality? :o

Have you proof of it being of low quality?
I've been using it since I made the above posts. It's been working fine and fast, haven't had a problem it.

No, I was just making at joke cause I thought the wording of that sentence was funny (guess I'm the only one). Like 'fat free' or something :o

I found the catch.
I checked the main email account that I got with the hosting, for the first time yesterday. Before this point I've never used it. I havent even typed or written it.
So, guess what hit my mailbox as soon as I checked?
SPAM!!! Hundreds apon hundreds of spam emails. And seeing as I've never referred to this email address, we can all say where it came from . The host.
Bugger.
So, there you go. :(
I'd cope if its as good as you say it is. Just delete them for now.
Does it have PHP/MySQL enabled?

There is no catch. with most free sites the catch is simply having lots of adds and pop ups on your site. some free hosting doesn't do that though. like with freewebs.com there are no adds or pop ups and it's free. the only "catch" is you have to have a tiny bar on the bottom saying "This site was brought to you by freewebs" really small that nobody even notices really. plus i have a site on freewebs and have not had that thing on the bottom and it's been up for bout 6 months and it hasn't gotten kicked yet :)

Yea maybe. I've just never had any spam, in any of my prevous email accounts. Including Hotmail, with which I may only get 1 or 2 every month, and Hotmail automatically filters them anyway.
Yep, it sure does. Both PHP and MySQL.

The catch with freewebs is that they have tiny bandwidth :(
I think they may have a 50 file limit too.
I tried to upload a lot of small files there once, and it wouldn't go, even though they were only about 1-2k in size.

I don't think you can do multiple file uploads either. Ahh well, it's good if you just want a small site with no ads.
Just went to explosive hosting and they're closed
Can anyone else recommend some GOOD PHP hosting? Account size and bandwidth don't matter, i just need something that works! Lycos wouldn't let me use the POST function (I ask you!!), and now I'm stuck.
God I hate uni assignments... I'm going to bed!

I remember back when stas.net was like the holy grail of free hosts, PHP, MySQL, unlimited bandwidth, and I think unlimited space. I bounced around a lot of free hosts then, and when I was out of luck a friend of mine from a different forum started up a hosting company. I haven't looked lately, but it seems like everything online has gone pay, and I would assume quality free webhosting is hard to find now. I pay $3/month at darkblizzard.com, not an ad more of a testimonial :o

i've been using SDF public access unix system for a while but its $36 to become a lifelong arpa member, whatever that means! all i know is i get some webspace which allows php and perl! for more info, try
here (http://www.freeshell.org/).
I've a few other URLs in my bookmarks but i've got no idea how good they are...
try http://www.free-webhosts.com/ for some free ones...
or for a massive list of PHP orientated ones... try http://www.zend.com/hosting_sites/phphosting.php?CID=484
