hi,

i want to do capoeria as i have been along and seen it and it looks like wickid fun, i am crap at gymnastics though, i just dont naturally flip. do the Capoeria techniques require great gymnastic ability? i am about 5.9 and of light build and am quite flexible, i just cant handstand, cartwheel or anything.do i need to learn these first before starting?

I guess they'd teach you. I'd hope so - it'd be like saying I'm gonna learn boxing but I can't punch - will I be ok?

all of these things come in time. And the flips and handstands and stuff are not required. If you can do them, good for you. When I first started capoeira I couldn't hanstand (at least not well), but I worked at it and I can do it just fine (personal record: 1 min 30 secs) nor could I flip. But if you work at it you can do fine. And if your teacher is of any worth he'll teach you at your own pace.

Exactly! You never know. Under certain circumstances, you may learn quite fast. What you can do beforehand is doing drills by yourself to get used to being on your hands and flipping. Do Au' (cartwheel) drills in the park or something. Just be careful not to dizzy yourself too much. :D You can also do the same thing with the hand stands.

Yes, Anybody has the ability to do Capoeira and I bet all of those handstands and flips will not be taught as that much when your a begginner in Capoeira but when you advance to another belt/cord then you will be able to do a handstand and a flip.
