could you give me a little more information? I assume you're using Windows, in which case go to My Computer, right click on the drive that you wish to reformat, and left click on Format. Can I ask exacly why you are reformating your hard drive?

the pc is running windows 98, but i might be putting xp on it. as for why, its basically donald-ducked. it looks for a file as soon as it starts and a few other things that i cant remember but i dont want to wait 2 hours for it to start up to find out what they are. id prefer to buy a new pc, but the mother wont let me :(

If your installing XP from a CD - boot from the CD and it will give you the option to reformat within the install process.

Get devils own version, I use it, no online activation :)
Oh, when you get SP1 you need to get a new serial the FCK one does become.. FCKED ;P
My Computer, right click on the drive that you wish to reformat, and left click on Format.
That won't work, you can't format Windows while its running!
Gaskell, I'll see about getting a step by step guide to formatting Windows. Maybe it could do with being made a sticky.
Watch this space...

cheers for that Kgirl
This is a good guide. Print it out, because once you've formatted it, you ain't getting it back :)

Remember to back up anything important, like coursework, emails, mp3's etc. It might also be useful to keep a number of a PC geek on standyby, in case it all goes wrong. Oh yeah, and make sure you actually have everything you need, like boot disks and the Windows CD rom, BEFORE you start formatting. Seems dull I know, but its easy to forget, and troublesome when you do.
See you in a few weeks :D
