Some of you may have been reading Master Betty's thread Back in the Ring (http://www.martialartsplanet.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103642) where he charted his training and dietry routine for un upcoming fight.

Here is that fight (MB is in the blue shorts).

Master Betty's Fight.wmv - YouTube

Let me know if there are any problems, the clips took a bit of stitching together and I had a problem downloading the fourth round.

Master Betty gave his permission for the video to be posted, so please comment as you see fit.

Thanks for the video. Nice job.

Was a good fight. Both fighters knew what they were doing. Except for the knock downs, the fight probably could have gone either way.

I had the guy in the dark trunks winning overall (48-42) with round 1: 10-8, round 2: 10-9, and round 5: 10-8. I had the guy in the white trunks winning round 3: 10-9 and round 4: 10-9.

Which one is Master Betty?

Edit: Just saw this

lol thanks guys. AS i said on the other thread - biggest factor for me in this fight was my fitness, getting back in the ring so soon after a year of zero training. I wont be taking another thai fight until after the new year so I have plenty of time to get back in shape and perform the way i can when im fit.

Great work, Master Betty! It must have been very difficult to step back into the ring after such a long layoff, but you did very well in there. You landed some great shots and showed a great chin in there, as well. Cheers, and happy training !

Vid came out good Simon, well done.

MB nice fight man.
Appart from a flurry or two he never really landed much on you, and you connected quite a few nice punches on him yourself there. Nice left hook by the way. I reckon if the judges saw it as a close one they should have been swayed by you catching/sweeping him in the last. You worked a lot more in the clinch too. Never can tell when it goes to the judges.
Good to see you fight MB.
cheers

how you score any of those rounds a 10:8? that would mean an 8 count or total outclass to get a 10:8

i score it
round 1 10:10
round 2 10:10
round 3 10:9 to M.B OPPONENT
round 4 10:9 to M.B OPPONENT
round 5 9:10 to M.BETTY

49 : 48 in favour of iains opponent

though great 5th round with high scoring off balancing techniques. i think you get back full fitness and youd have wone that easy. well done mate

Thanks man thats closer to how i scored it as well. Though I scored the first round in my favour - it's a bit of a myth that the first round doesnt get scored and i think i was dominant enough in the first to take it.

As I gather, 1 judge scored it to my opponent, 1 to me and 1 scored it a draw. I think the judge who scored it a draw probably had the same as me with 10-9, 10-10, 9-10, 9-10, 10-9.

I would say the judge who had me losing the fight had the same scoring as you and the judge who scored the fight to me probably gave me the 2nd as well.

That's a strong left hook you got there!

I know nothing of MT scoring bit in ignorant lay mans terms "you beat him up" IMO :ban::ban:

Serious though, nice one mate, I'd have said you'd taken it and you should be VERY proud.

Tbh its a very difficult call on the footage, I had you with a tick on round 1, if I was ringside I might have given a tick to you on 2nd as well (making 2nd round a 9:10) but can't tell from footage which would have you a draw. But either way it was close. :)

yeah it was a close fight, I was happy with the draw but disappointed with myself as I know he had nothing on me. I also know that I hurt him a few times in the fight and didn't get hit with more than 2 hard shots the entire fight myself. Ho hum, you live and learn!

It was just tiredness! Otherwise you'd have won 3 and 4. Onward n upward :)
