I have this book called
Skillful Judo by Brian Caffary
In it he writes----
It's interesting to note that
1 old Japanese Martial Art
School, The Jikishin-ryu ,
had been using the name
Judo in connection in connection
with their paticularstyle of combat
for some 200 years before Kano
appeared on the scene
It was to save any confusion with Jikishin-ryu
Judo that Kano Eventually gave his discipline
the name of Kodokan Judo.
Does anyone know anything about this???
