Hiya
Has anyone here done the Insanity programme by Shaun T?
It was recommended to me by a forces friend who is very much into his fitness.
I have just completed my second week of the programme and I have found it great. Already my cardio has vastly improved as well as my strength and flexibility
It is the hardest workout programme i've ever done, but I'm gonna stick with it as it feels like it will really contribute to my martial arts training.
Be great to hear from folks who are doing it or have completed it
Cheers

Cardio workouts with +ve diet changes really brings benefits.
I hasten to add, not much possible on these 2 fronts right now due to working on stupid project in Paris and studying Maths, leaving me very little training time AND suffering supermarket food.

it's a great workout program; just watch out for the MLM scheme that comes with it.

My wife and I finished P90x, and I modified my diet to include far, far fewer calories and better nutrition, and I gained more--not a lot--muscle definition and strongly upped my cardio. I've always been a sprinter type, having participated in sports where it was more "burst of energy, slowdown, burst". P90x suited that style, but then we got into Insanity.
[ Valley Girl] Oh. My. Gawd.[/Valley Girl]. It's a damn good cardio workout, which takes less time than P90x, and yes, although she runs 7 (seven) miles a day (she never stopped doing her XC regimen from high school and college; she's 31, I'm 43) six days a week, this program had us with our different styles on our knees gasping for air. After the first DVD, she had a full blown asthma attack, where she had to do several rescue inhaler puffs and go on the nebulizer--yes, it's tough. It can also be hard on the knees, and the exercises are not anything even slightly difficult (like P90x). It's just the relentless progression of them.
So far, the interval training seems quite repetitive, as there are at this point only four DVDs we're employing (it switches in a week to other portions), but that's the point: it's not about muscle confusion, it's about soldiering on, pressing on, just going and going and not quitting even after you feel you're out--in the part we did last night, my wife pointed out that Shaun T. told everyone on the DVD to stop at least once (she was overstating things for emphasis), but the people, and even he seemed...bushed by the end.
I've had so much sweat pouring down into my eyes, covering my body, and my limbs have felt like they're about to give up, and I've been left literally gasping for air (yes, on the verge of an asthma attack, too) and broken...but I just soldier on. It also helps when you're competing with your former track and field fanatic wife to not look like a wuss :hat:!!!
This has also been coupled with the same changes in diet I started in P90x. Although I used to think I ate reasonably "healthy", well, once I started counting calories, fat, grams of protein, transfats, etc. DAMN, it was hard to believe how unhealthily I now feel I was eating. Again, the program works coupled with diet, and also rest periods . You're admonished to get at least 7 hours of sleep, and of course, drink plenty of water.
Cheers,
Snake T.

I've just for a copy of this and will be starting it in a fortnight after the great west run (don't want to mess myself up for that).
I've never done a training log before, can anyone give me any ideas what I shoudl do before starting, what I should measure etc and what I should record?

me an my honor guard team have been doing Insanity for about 60 days now. have seen a vast improvement on my physical fitness test scores and running. I prefer that over the crossfit crap they are trying to incorporate into the army. the 60 minute portion of the workouts is some tough stuff.

I've no doubt anyone jumping into it can see some results... I'm curious how people are actually going about the program design. What are your periodizations based on? Has anyone doing that given it any thought?
After a brief look - I'm guessing it's primarily based at strength endurance and cardio. Anyone?
