Hi my name is Ann Kramer and I am a Black Belt Instructor for our local Park and Rec Department. I have been doing this for over 20 years and my art is Tae Kwon Do. I have a large class of adults and children I also teach basic Judo. 50% of my young students are special needs. Looking forward posting.
Hey Ann,
I don't know if you've spotted this yet, but we have a Disabled Martial Artists area that might be of interest to you. http://www.martialartsplanet.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=64
Other than that, welcome to MAP :) Hope you like it here

Hi Ann,
Great to meet you! If you don't mind I would love to pick your brain on dealing with children. I am new at this and we have a couple of kids with ADHD and a deaf child and would love to have some advice. This is the great part of this forum - it usually fills a gap when you feel a need.

Well what specific questions can I address for you? When I said I had students with special needs I forgot to include the ADHD kids because I don't feel it's a handicap to them even if they are not on meds. One of the Masters in our school had a deaf child and together we came up with a training plan. Does your deaf student read lips? Do you know sign language if not take a crash course. Do you have a student that would make a good training buddy for them? Let me know what you need and I will help as much as I can. Read my post on dissabled martial artists I think it will prove interesting to you.
