First of all you should find a quiet place, sit or lay down, which ever is comfortable to you, but not to comfortable you don’t want to fall asleep, then you should decide on what you want to meditate on if anything, when you breath bring the air in to the pit of your stomach as deep as you can and hold for a second then slowly let it out, repeat until you are relaxed or have found your answer.....oh you should breath in through your nose out through your mouth.

First off, don't meditate to find answers. If you are a beginner to meditation, meditate to clear the mind. As cloudgodd said, find a nice quiet place to meditate. Sit on a cushion, make sure your spine is aligned. Then breathe. In thru the nose, out thru the mouth. Count your breaths. 1 - 9 then start over again. If you lose count, so what? Start over and count from 1. Donºt let anything stay in your thoughts. If something comes in, acknowledge it then let it go. Count.
